Following our values of ethics and quality, all our pieces are handmade and made in small quantities. The production cycle is completely European: All the pieces are designed in the studio in the center of Paris and manufactured in small quantities in Portugal, in a small atelier recognized for its excellent work, its perfect finishes and its attention to detail. The high quality fabrics used are certified of Italian origin, this guarantees intense and durable colors. The fabrics are also certified OEKO Tex standard 100, which guarantees that they do not have any substances harmful to our health. The attention to every detail and the quality of the finishes are complemented in total harmony to create sustainable, exclusive and eco-friendly swimwear of high quality.
Why this choice ?
I have always been a fan of sustainable fashion (long before it was given that name) and I have always sought a sense of originality and quality for my clothes, so that it will last over time. Consume better and consume less. I have always been convinced that it is the responsibility of consumers to become aware of the problems that "fast fashion" is dragging and force the fashion industry to act and produce in an ethical and sustainable manner.

French design .
My love for beach days and my desire to transmit my Caribbean culture was what led me to create Sweet Mellow, to bring to life original and colorful swimsuits. My dream was to create a perfect Franco-Caribbean combination: the colors and dynamism of my childhood with the French haute couture. That's why I looked for French expertise in terms of style and patterns. I worked with excellent stylists who loved the project as much as I. In our studio in Paris, the work sessions are always super dynamic, they add that typical French "je-ne-sais-quoi", the chic and casual Parisian style, and I add the sun, the colors and the Caribbean dynamism. For them it is sometimes too bold, for me sometimes too sober, we always have to make some concessions, but we always manage to create the perfect prototype of ethical and original swimsuits with a touch of spark. Those feminine cuts, and colorful that I hope you will love!
The high-tech, high-quality fabrics used to make our pieces.
Swimsuits, like any garment, must be designed and manufactured to last. However, more than other pieces, the swimsuit has to face very particular challenges: sun, sand, sun creams, oils, chlorine ... etc . That means that the fabrics must be strong and resistant, but at the same time, the swimsuits must fit perfectly to our body and must be soft for our skin, that's why a perfect balance between softness and resistance is needed. Also, swimsuits are intimate pieces, and should be made with fabrics free of any toxic substance that could be dangerous to our health. For my collection of sustainable swimsuits, from the beginning I looked for fabrics manufacturers respectful of Man and the Planet, with high human and eco-friendly values. The choice of fabrics was a crucial stage of the project: dozens of samples and many mail exchanges to know the origin and manufacture of the fabrics. For me it was important to respect the ethical and sustainable values throughout the production chain. Finally, I found in Italy the perfect supplier with very soft and very resistant fabrics, with certificate of Italian origin and certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. All the requirements that I was looking for from the beginning.
A human and ethical experience
I spent several months looking for the ideal workshop, it was a really stressful time, I did not have enough time, the more it took, the harder it would be to have a collection ready for the summer of 2018. Finally at the end of 2017 I found in Porto THE workshop I was looking for! A small workshop, recognized for its excellent work and dedicated to the manufacture of swimsuits, after the mandatory visit to know the workshop and the seamstresses, my decision was made! I definitely wanted to work with them. We were already at the end of 2017, the time was really short to produce a small collection from scratch for the following summer, but they took the challenge with me! Since that time we did not stop working together, we did not have the time to do all prototypes, but it did not matter, I had already seen the quality of their work so I trusted them and I was right, the result is WONDERFUL, each piece is perfect, impeccable finishes, everything I wanted: sustainable swimwear of impeccable quality. We are already working for the SS19 collection, this time with much more time and more calm.
Quality in limited edition: Exclusive swimwear.
One of the pillars of the brand is that we believe in a sustainable fashion, that is why we make few and long-lasting pieces. Each piece is handmade, the seamstresses take the time to make each piece perfectly. The first collection is made up of only three models of sustainable swimsuits, colorful and unique! In the long term I would like to make a maximum of six pieces per collection, a single collection per year and always in small quantities. Exclusivity is part of our DNA.
Upcoming Challenges: Eco-friendly swimsuits.
This dream has just begun and there are still many challenges to achieve, but there is one that is particularly important for me: eco-sustainability. I think I've told you before, the beach is my place of peace, I love the sea, I love to walk along the coast with the smell and the sound of the weaves in the background, and it's not a secret to anyone that seas and oceans are increasingly polluted, we even talk about a 7th continent of garbage in the Pacific Ocean! It's a very disturbing situation (for me, in any case) so I've researched a lot and I found a wonderful fiber: the Econyl! A nylon fiber regenerated from plastic waste taken from the sea! I loved this idea! So I'm already preparing everything to use these fibers in our next collection of sustainable and environmentally friendly swimsuits!
